CHILD CARE

Your child is discovering all kinds of new worlds. That's why at YMCA Child Care we carefully design every activity to expand your kid's imagination and encourage lifelong positive values. Their newfound confidence naturally strengthens the relationship they have with you, and that progression is at the heart of our philosophy -- good child care is good family care. We offer: field trips, nutritious snacks, age-appropriate curriculum, winter and spring break camps, experienced professional staff, half-day and holiday special events, fun-filled activities, sports and fitness activities, enrichment activities, supervised homework time, and swimming classes.

Full- and part-time YMCA Child Care is divided into specific, age-appropriate programs that provide your kids with high-quality and enjoyable experiences. For infants and toddlers, personal attention, rich sensory experiences, and a generous supply of giggles are a big part of their day. Preschoolers learn the importance of making choices, taking turns, developing language skills, and working in a group while they play games and create to the limits of their imagination. School-aged kids join in a variety of experiences including: service-learning, science, reading, and developing and practicing social skills. They gather in a safe environment that focuses on making friends, building relationships, staying active, and exercising leadership skills.

Preschool Programs

Wee R 2's, 3's, and 4's (ages 26 months - 4 years)

Your young child will have fun while learning to play and share with others. Creative art, story time, songs, and active fun are part of the play group experience in this child-centered program.

YOUTH ENRICHMENT

YMCA Big Friends Mentoring

The Big Friends Program is a volunteer program developed to provide adult, mature companionship for boys and girls who are in need of a special friend. It pairs a man and a boy or a woman and a girl (one to one) to foster a positive, healthy, productive and rewarding relationship.

Big friends are mature and responsible men and women over 18 years of age. They are adults who understand and appreciate the art of friendship and have a sincere interest in youth. They spend 2+ hours per week with Little Friends, participating in planned outings like bowling, pool parties, fishing trips, and airplane rides.

Little Friends are children residing in Loudoun County, between the ages of 7 and 15 from a single parent household, are referred by a parent/teacher/agency, and have parental consent. Volunteers are always needed, not only for matching with children, but also to assist the operation of the program.

Positive role models and encouragement build the self-esteem of our young people, motivating them to reach their highest potential as individuals and members of the community. The philosophy is simple, the implications are profound: if you set kids on the right path when they are young, you won't have to devote resources later to remedy problems that could have been prevented.
